Door het nieuwe carrière pad dat ik voor ogen heb, kom ik veel aanbieders tegen van bruidsartikelen. Mooie locaties, trouwfotografen, cateraars, wedding planners, trouwauto verhuurders en natuurlijk bruidsjurken! Claire Pettibone maakt zulke pareltjes dat ze wel met jullie moest delen. Ze liet zich o.a. inspireren door Art Nouveau en voor haar Still Life collectie was Still life of flowers on a Marble Table van 17de eeuwe Nederlandse meester Rachel Ruysch haar inspiratiebron. Haar jurken worden in Nederland, bij mijn weten, alleen verkocht bij Bloomfeld in Amsterdam. Of je nu trouwplannen hebt of niet, deze japonnen laten je absoluut wegdromen. Enjoy!

Eind van de maand staat, ons bloglezers, weer een veelvoud van blogposts te wachten over goede voornemens en plannen voor het volgende jaar. Ook ik zit boordevol plannen voor 2014 en ik dacht er dit jaar eens vroeg bij te zijn met de vooruit-kijk-plannen.

Nadat ik mij voor 2013 had voorgenomen om wat meer persoonlijke berichten te plaatsen, heb ik voor 2014 het plan om meer te laten zien van m'n werk. Tot op heden vond ik het niet gepast om op m'n blog ongeremd reclame te maken voor voorstellingen waar ik zelf bij betrokken was. Ik zag witblog als iets dat echt los stond van mijn werk. Naast mijn werk als dramaturg ben ik vast besloten om een geheel ander beroep te gaan uitoefenen. (Wat dat is hou ik nog even geheim.) Vanwege de aard van dat beroep denk ik nu heel anders over het delen van zakelijke projecten op mijn blog. Ook over mijn werk in het theater ben ik van plan hier meer te gaan schrijven. Bij nader inzien vind ik het bijvoorbeeld jammer dat ik nooit iets heb geschreven over de vocal warm-up CD voor zangeressen die ik maakte en die nu een jaar verkocht wordt via iTunes, Google en op Amazon. Ook over de Dramaturgenwinkel, een platform dat ik vorig jaar oprichtte heb ik hier nooit wat vertelt. Wanneer je met iets nieuws begint is het in het begin best lastig om mensen daar over te vertellen omdat je bang bent dat mensen je idee zullen afwijzen. In de toekomst wil ik dat dus anders gaan doen.

Ik hoop dat mijn nieuwe voornemens jullie nieuwsgierig maken en dat jullie witblog met plezier blijven lezen.

English: At the end of this month we bloggers will read a lot of blogposts about new years resolutions  and plans for 2014. I have a lot of new plans for next years as well. Besides my work as a dramaturg I have decided to take up an entirely different profession (which I'll keep a secret just a bit longer). In the past I felt that it wasn't appropriate to talk about theatre productions I was working, on witblog. But now, because of the nature of this second profession, I find it entirely appropriate to talk about my profession on my blog. So in the future I will also write more about my work as a dramaturg. I also regret that I haven't written about projects that I had did in the past. I made a CD with vocal warm-up excersises that is available on iTunes, Google and Amazon. And I am the found of The Dramaturg Store (at the moment the website is only available in Dutch as de dramaturgenwinkel, the English website is coming soon). which is a platform for theatre makes to come into contact with dramaturgs. In the future I will also write more about my work as a dramaturg. I hope your looking forward to the changes.

I love to collect things, old photographs, cameo's, things that are miniature, books (although currently I read mostly e-books, I have acquired a pretty vast collection already), clothes, shoes and (vintage) suitcases are my current obsessions. In the past I collected a wide range of things: from stickers to perfum bottles and from Barbie dolls to theatre programs, I collected it all. Although I don't collect those things anymore, I do treasure most of those small collections.

As you know, I love vintage photographs. I especially like collecting vintage photographs that aren't that regularly seen. For example: strange circumstances (rarely seen in photo's), daily life (rarely seen in photographs), people in exotic costumes, people in theatrical settings, women in dressing rooms, people inside vehicles, etc. Thanks to the Huffington Post I came across a site loaded with rare vintage photographs. Homo history is a blog entirely dedicated to vintage photographs which depict gay men and women. If you want to read the story behind this blog please read the interview in The Huffington Post.

In a lot of the posts on Homo History the following text message is included: "These photos are just a small fragment of our gay history; unfortunately so much of it has purposely been destroyed. Since most of the men and women in these photos are unknown, it's pretty much impossible to tell it they were a gay couple or just "good friends". Most photographs of gay couples were eventually destroyed by horrified family members. For every photo that I may have mistakenly identified as gay, thousands more were burned or torn into pieces to keep a family secret."

De ideale man - An Ideal Husband

In 2006 zag ik Het belang van Ernst door het Nationale Toneel. Ik vond het een briljante uitvoering van Oscar Wilde's heerlijke komedie. Toen ik de aankondiging las dat het Nationale Toneel wederom een komedie van Oscar Wilde zou brengen dit seizoen boekte ik dan ook snel kaartjes. De afgelopen weken werd duidelijk dat het om een bewerking van Wilde's An Ideal Husband ging waarbij het geheel naar het heden was verplaatst. Zeker na mijn recente bezoek aan Het Stenen Bruidsbed van het NT hield ik mijn hart vast.

Empty former hospital

In June I wrote about the show Dolhuys Kermis, where I volunteered to do the supertitles. I promised then that I would also make photograph's of the former hospital that was the place where Dolhuys Kermis was performed. In the play the audience is taken on a tour through a 19th century sanatorium (then named Dolhuys in The Netherlands). Once a year people could buy a ticket to see the patients as if visiting a zoo. The overgrown garden and the long empty and shabby building are the perfect surrounding for the performance as put on by Opera2day. Production was kind enough to allow me to make some pictures to share with you. Of course a lot of what is seen in the pictures was created by the talented people of Opera2Day, but it's partly the charm of a neglected building as well. I hope you enjoy the photos I took.

Art Nouveau Dream Home

Op funda vond ik mijn droomhuis! Ik ben al jaren dol op Art nouveau en dit fantastische pand aan een Delftse gracht voldoet aan bijna al mijn woonwensen ("ok, ik kan het niet betalen", "ok, er is geen parkeerplaats in de straat" en "ok, perfect zou het pas zijn met een veranda" maar toch, het is pretty close). Naast de twee voorkamers is er nog een binnenplaats, een mooie grote keuken en een gigantische zolder. Klik voor meer foto's hier.

Als je weinig geld hebt lijkt het wel of er nog meer is dat je wilt kopen, dan wanneer je het wat breder hebt. Bij mij lijkt dat in elk geval te kloppen. De laatste tijd kwam ik weer ongelofelijk veel webshops tegen die ik nog niet kende. De leukste zet ik op een rijtje:

Eerder gaf ik op Radio West een review van het boek en op deze blog schreef ik een review van de film. Uiteraard wilde ik de theaterbewerking ook niet missen. Haar naam was Sarah ging donderdagavond in de Koninklijke Schouwburg in première.

De eerste premières hebben al weer plaats gevonden en net als vorig jaar wil ik terug- en vooruit kijken op de theaterseizoenen. In september had ik grote verwachtingen van de volgende voorstellingen:
